On Tuesdays We Tune

Logo and Motion Graphic Design.

The Challenge

This was a fun opportunity to work on a project that I don’t get as often as I’d like. Dynojet already had an existing brand style, so it was my goal to design everything with that style in mind. The objective was to design a logo for a YouTube video series as well as provide an animation to spice it up. Working on logos and animation is something that can be a really exciting and creative exercise for a graphic designer, so I had a blast coming up with ideas and learning new methods for animation.

Logo Design

My logo design process always begins on paper. After several pages of sketches, I move the process into illustrator to begin finalizing the designs. Since I came up with several concepts that moved on to the final selection process, I included a few of those designs below. Ultimately, we landed on the red design to tie it into the Dynojet brand while simultaneously playing into the red rectangle shape that has become synonymous with internet videos. To cap it off, the electrified Ts conveyed the power sports tuning side of it.

Motion Graphic Design

I always love a good excuse to open Adobe After Effects and mess around. This particular project was a fun opportunity for me to learn how to morph one shape into another shape seamlessly, and I feel like I learn something new every time I’m in the program. Sometimes the simplest animation can really breathe life into a design, and I always look forward to another opportunity to expand my animation skills.
